Pitru Paksha

Honoring Our Ancestors with Seva

Offerings of Anna Daan, Brahman Bhojan & Sevas for the peace of departed souls

Honoring Our Forefathers with Seva

Pitru Paksha is a holy time of the year when families remember and honor their forefathers with gratitude. It is believed that when we offer prayers and seva during these days, our ancestors receive peace and blessings, and in return, our family is blessed with protection, harmony, and prosperity.

Traditionally, devotees observe Shraddha, Tarpan, and acts of charity such as Anna Daan and Brahman Bhojan. These simple yet powerful offerings help us stay connected with our lineage and express love for those who have passed on.

At ISKCON Rohini, devotees can take part in sevas like Khichdi Prasadam Distribution, Deity Rajbhog Seva, and Brahman Bhojan, performed with sincerity in the name of one’s ancestors.

Shloka:
“There is no gift higher than the gift of food. By offering food in charity, the ancestors are truly satisfied, and one attains the higher worlds.”
(Garuda Purana, Pretakalpa 10.6)
